Throughout his career, Donald has worked closely with the UK Government, serving as a subject matter expert in safeguarding for the Department for Education and as a board member of the Independent Safeguarding Authority and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). He was instrumental in designing Safer Recruitment training, now a key safeguarding measure in education settings.

 

Donald led the launch of Stop It Now! UK & Ireland, a confidential helpline and public awareness campaign focused on child sexual abuse prevention. He was also involved in Circles of Support and Accountability, a programme that helps safely reintegrate sex offenders into communities with structured support.

 

A strong advocate for preventative safeguarding approaches, Donald has developed training and resources for parents, carers, and professionals, including Parents Protect, an online platform offering accessible safeguarding advice. His global safeguarding efforts include collaborating with international partners to develop evidence-based prevention strategies.

 

With a background in the church, Donald has advised faith organisations on safeguarding policies and responses to abuse. He is a member of the Diocese of Guildford’s Safeguarding Panel and has worked closely with the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Team.

 

Now working as an independent safeguarding consultant, Donald remains dedicated to ensuring that safeguarding practices are proactive, effective, and survivor-centred.
